Keep your meta title between 50 and 60 characters. Google truncates titles above approximately 580 pixels, which is typically 60 characters. Titles shorter than 30 characters may hurt click-through rate.
Aim for 120 to 155 characters. Google shows descriptions up to around 920 pixels wide on desktop. On mobile the limit is shorter. Descriptions outside this range may be rewritten by Google.
Meta descriptions are not a direct ranking factor but improve click-through rate from search results. Higher CTR is a positive engagement signal. Read our guide on how to rank on Google.
